Summary
This study aims to understand how the immune system causes bone destruction in gum disease (periodontitis) and implant-related gum disease (peri-implantitis). Researchers will collect samples like plaque, saliva, and gum fluid from 219 adults with severe gum disease and compare them to healthy individuals. The goal is to find specific molecules that could lead to better prevention, screening, and treatments.
