First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study aims to understand the immune and inflammatory processes that lead to bone destruction in gum disease (periodontitis) and infections around dental implants (peri-implantitis). Researchers will collect plaque, saliva, and gum fluid from 219 adults with advanced gum disease and compare them to healthy individuals. The goal is to identify specific molecules that could serve as biomarkers for disease activity or targets for future treatments.
