Gum treatment study reveals new clues about inflammation markers
NCT ID NCT06727929
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at two proteins, Dkk-1 and sFRP5, in the gum fluid of 99 people with healthy gums, gingivitis, or periodontitis. Researchers measured these proteins before and after a standard deep-cleaning treatment to see if they change with gum inflammation and bone loss. The goal was to learn if these proteins could help predict or monitor gum disease, not to test a new treatment.
