Laser gum therapy may help heart attack survivors too
NCT ID NCT04145557
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 38 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using a 980nm diode laser along with standard deep cleaning improves gum health and reduces body-wide inflammation in people with gum disease, both those who have had a heart attack and those who haven't. About 80 participants under 70 years old were involved, with measurements taken before treatment, at 2 weeks, and at 3 months. The goal was to see if the laser offers extra benefits for gum healing and inflammatory markers.
