Massage before pelvic exam eases discomfort, study finds
NCT ID NCT06416982
First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether a 2-minute perineal massage before a pessary check can reduce pain and improve comfort for women using a pessary for prolapse or incontinence. About 68 participants will each receive both the massage and a standard gel-only application at separate visits, then rate their pain and satisfaction. The goal is to find a simple, drug-free way to make routine exams more comfortable.
