Shocking calf tears: new needle therapy tested for muscle injuries
NCT ID NCT06713200
First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested a treatment called percutaneous electrolysis for people with calf muscle tears. A tiny needle delivers a mild electrical current to the injured area to reduce pain and speed healing. 75 adults were split into three groups: high-intensity, low-intensity, or a fake (sham) treatment. Researchers measured pain, fear of movement, ankle flexibility, and muscle fatigue before and after treatment. The goal was to see if this approach helps people recover better from muscle injuries.
