Shock to the shoulder: new combo therapy for chronic tendon pain

NCT ID NCT07498569

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a type of electrical stimulation (PENS or PE) to a 12-week exercise program can improve pain and function in people with chronic supraspinatus tendinopathy (a common shoulder tendon problem). About 64 adults aged 18-65 will receive either active stimulation or a placebo during four weekly sessions, while all do the same exercises. The goal is to see if the combo leads to better pain relief and shoulder use.
