First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether a new type of nerve block, called PENG, can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers in 40 adults undergoing a minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVI). The block is injected near the hip under ultrasound guidance. Researchers measured how much extra pain medicine was needed during the procedure and how well patients' leg muscles worked afterward.
