Heart pouch clipping device shows promise in stroke prevention study

Summary
This study looks at how well a device called Penditure works to close off the left atrial appendage (a small pouch in the heart) during heart surgery. The goal is to prevent blood clots from forming there and causing strokes. About 198 adults having heart surgery are taking part, and doctors will check if the pouch stays closed after 3 months and if there are any serious side effects within 30 days.
