Immune drug tested before colon cancer surgery in small study

NCT ID NCT03984578

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at how the immune drug pembrolizumab affects colorectal cancer when given before surgery. 33 patients with non-metastatic cancer received the drug along with chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. The goal was to measure changes in immune activity and tumor shrinkage, not to cure the disease. It was a small, early-phase study focused on learning, not treatment.
