New combo therapy shows promise against aggressive esophageal cancer
NCT ID NCT03322267
First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study looked at 26 people with a type of esophageal cancer who had a high chance of the cancer coming back after standard treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery). They received more chemotherapy and radiation plus an immunotherapy drug called pembrolizumab. The goal was to see if this extra treatment could help keep the cancer from returning for at least a year. The approach aims to control the disease, not cure it, as ongoing monitoring and potential further treatment are needed.
