First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested whether giving the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab before surgery could shrink advanced basal cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Thirteen adults with high-risk tumors received the drug, then had surgery to remove any remaining cancer. The goal was to see if the treatment could reduce tumor size and possibly avoid the need for extensive surgery.
