Simple surgical tweak may prevent dangerous bowel blockage after rectal cancer surgery

Summary
This study looks at whether closing the pelvic floor peritoneum during keyhole surgery for mid-low rectal cancer can lower the chance of a bowel blockage (ileus) within 30 days after surgery. About 516 adults aged 18-75 with rectal cancer will be randomly assigned to have the pelvic floor closed or left open. Researchers will also check recovery, complications, and quality of life to see which approach is better.
