First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at whether closing the pelvic floor peritoneum during keyhole surgery for mid-low rectal cancer can stop the bowel from getting blocked after the operation. About 516 adults aged 18-75 with rectal cancer will be randomly assigned to have the pelvic floor closed or left open. The main goal is to see if this simple change lowers the chance of a bowel blockage within 30 days after surgery.
