Hidden danger: study probes missed blood clots in heart failure patients
NCT ID NCT07499661
First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether dangerous blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) are often missed in patients hospitalized with acute heart failure. Both conditions cause similar symptoms like sudden shortness of breath, so doctors may not always test for a clot. Researchers will compare hospitals that routinely test for clots with those that follow usual care, tracking outcomes in about 740 adults over three months.
