New hope for kids with gigantism: daily shot may curb excess growth

Summary

This study tested a daily injection called pegvisomant in 12 children aged 2 to 18 with gigantism, a condition causing too much growth hormone. The goal was to see if the drug could safely lower hormone levels and slow abnormal growth. Participants received the drug for 60 weeks and were monitored with blood tests, imaging, and physical exams.
