Peer coaching may ease cancer worry in young women with BRCA family history
NCT ID NCT04248257
First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a few phone calls with a trained peer coach can reduce distress and help young women (ages 21-30) who have a close relative with a BRCA gene mutation make informed choices about their health. About 560 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the peer coaching calls or usual support resources. Researchers will track changes in cancer-related worry, decision-making confidence, and whether participants seek genetic counseling over 12 months.
