Former addicts coaching others to kick smoking habit
NCT ID NCT06965153
Summary
This study tests whether peer recovery coaches—people who have overcome both opioid and tobacco addiction—can help others in opioid treatment quit smoking more effectively than standard counseling. Sixty adults receiving medication for opioid use disorder who want to quit smoking will receive either peer coaching or standard counseling, both combined with nicotine replacement therapy. The goal is to see if shared experience and social support make quitting tobacco more achievable for this high-risk group.
