New chemo combo aims to beat childhood leukemia with fewer lasting side effects

NCT ID NCT07059975

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This early-phase trial tests whether replacing two standard chemotherapy cycles with new drug combinations can work as well or better for children with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) while causing fewer long-term problems. About 36 children and young adults up to age 30 with intermediate- or high-risk AML will receive the new cycles and be monitored for side effects and survival for up to three years. The goal is to find a treatment that controls the disease effectively but is gentler on the body.
