Heart study aims to zap away stubborn AFib with precision mapping
NCT ID NCT07541989
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at a new way to treat a type of irregular heartbeat called persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). It compares two approaches using pulsed-field ablation, a technique that uses energy to destroy tiny areas of heart tissue causing the problem. One group gets standard treatment, while the other gets extra mapping to find and treat additional problem spots. The goal is to see which method works better at keeping the heart in normal rhythm for up to three years. About 300 adults with drug-resistant AFib are taking part.
