Natural painkiller PEA takes on ibuprofen in kidney stone aftermath

NCT ID NCT07316660

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), a natural pain-relieving substance, can work as well as ibuprofen for pain after a common kidney stone procedure called ESWL. About 120 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either PEA or ibuprofen, and their pain levels will be tracked for 24 hours. The goal is to find a safer alternative for patients who cannot take standard painkillers.
