German study tests new safety method for blood platelets

Summary
This study aims to gather real-world experience on the safety and effectiveness of pathogen-reduced platelet concentrates used in transfusions. It will observe 850 adult patients in Germany who need platelet transfusions due to low platelet counts. The research will track how well these specially treated platelets work and monitor for any serious transfusion reactions in routine hospital practice.
