Your gut could reveal Parkinson's before your brain does

NCT ID NCT05347407

First seen May 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026

Summary

This study explores whether the gut's nervous system can show early signs of Parkinson's disease. Researchers will collect gut tissue and microbiome samples during routine screening colonoscopies from 60 people aged 45-75, including those with Parkinson's, those at risk, and healthy volunteers. The goal is to find biomarkers that might one day help diagnose Parkinson's earlier, but no treatment or cure is being tested.
