Parkinson's walking woes: brain size may predict drug response
NCT ID NCT06903910
First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looked at whether donepezil (Aricept), a drug that boosts a brain chemical called acetylcholine, can help improve walking and balance in people with Parkinson's disease. Six participants took the drug for 12 weeks while researchers measured their walking speed and brain scans. The goal was to see if a smaller brain area (Ch4) was linked to worse walking and if donepezil could help those with more shrinkage.
