Brain mapping study could lead to smarter Parkinson's therapy

Summary

This study aims to understand how different brain circuits affect movement and thinking in people with Parkinson's disease who already have a deep brain stimulation (DBS) device. Researchers will measure brain activity patterns during rest and movement, and link them to standard tests of motor and cognitive function. The goal is to pave the way for smarter DBS programming that could improve both movement and thinking. About 100 adults with Parkinson's and a DBS implant will participate.
