Could your own cells fix Parkinson's? new trial begins

NCT ID NCT06778265

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This early study tests a new treatment called UX-DA001 for people with Parkinson's disease. The treatment uses a patient's own cells to create dopamine-producing brain cells, which are then transplanted into the brain. The main goal is to check if the procedure is safe, but researchers will also look for signs that it improves movement. The trial involves 12 people aged 50-75 who have had Parkinson's for 5-20 years and whose current medications are no longer working well.
