First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 37 times
Summary
This study tests whether a program where parents support each other, with help from trained parent coaches, can help teens ages 15-18 quit vaping. About 200 parent-teen pairs will take part. Some parents get the coaching program, while others receive no extra help during the study. The main goal is to see if teens can stop vaping for at least 7 days.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Parents Helping Parents program (behavioral intervention with online training and parent coach sessions)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a practical, family-based approach to help teens stop vaping.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (200 participants) testing a behavioral program, so results may not apply widely. Success depends on parent and teen engagement, and the program may not work for everyone.
