Summary

This study looks at how lung function, respiratory muscle strength, balance, and quality of life relate in Paralympic athletes. Researchers will measure breathing capacity, muscle strength, and balance in 24 athletes from sports like athletics, swimming, archery, and wheelchair basketball. They will also compare these measures across different disability types and genders. The goal is to see if supporting respiratory muscle strength could be a useful target in rehabilitation and training.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
Findings could guide rehabilitation and training programs to support respiratory health and quality of life in Paralympic athletes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, cross-sectional study, so it cannot prove cause and effect, and results may not apply to all athletes or disability types.
