New combo therapy aims to extend remission in colorectal cancer patients

Summary
This study tested whether adding the targeted drug panitumumab to a special chemotherapy given directly into the liver (hepatic arterial infusion) plus standard IV chemo could help keep colorectal cancer from coming back after liver metastases were surgically removed. 75 adults with a specific genetic type (wild-type RAS) and no cancer outside the liver took part. The goal was to see if the combination could lengthen the time patients stayed cancer-free.
