New study tests Ultrasound-Guided drainage for pancreatic cysts
NCT ID NCT02845258
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026
Summary
This study looked at 80 adults with painful or infected fluid pockets (pseudocysts) in the pancreas caused by severe pancreatitis. Doctors used a special ultrasound-guided scope to drain the cysts. The goal was to see how often complications like bleeding or infection happened and how many people needed a second drainage. The study found that this method is generally safe and effective, but some patients may need more than one procedure.
