First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study is testing a computer model called PRISM that uses electronic health records to predict who might develop pancreatic cancer. Researchers will analyze data from over 6 million people aged 40 and older across 44 US healthcare centers. The goal is to see if the model can accurately identify high-risk individuals, which could lead to earlier screening and diagnosis.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors identify people at high risk for pancreatic cancer earlier, potentially leading to earlier detection and better outcomes.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The model may not be accurate enough for real-world use, and it does not directly improve survival.
