Nurse-led painless endoscopy proves safe in massive 18,000-patient trial
NCT ID NCT06712264
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to perform painless digestive endoscopy where specially trained anesthesia nurses, guided by anesthesiologists, manage sedation instead of doctors. Over 18,000 adults took part to see if this approach is as safe and effective as the standard doctor-led method. The goal is to make the procedure more comfortable for patients while freeing up anesthesiologists for other critical tasks.
