New test aims to take the guesswork out of treating nerve pain

NCT ID NCT06614322

Summary

This study aims to see if a simple bedside pain exam can help predict which patients with nerve pain in their feet will respond best to specific medications. Researchers will test 190 adults with painful neuropathy by having them try three different treatments (two common pain drugs and a placebo) over 19 weeks. The goal is to learn if the initial pain exam can guide doctors to prescribe the most effective drug for each person sooner.
