New study aims to ease severe pain in pancreatic cancer patients without strong opioids

NCT ID NCT06160323

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a nerve block (celiac ganglion neurolysis) early, rather than waiting and using strong painkillers first, can better control pain in people with inoperable pancreatic cancer. About 94 adults with tumor-related pain will be randomly assigned to either upfront nerve block or standard step-up care. The goal is to see if early nerve block reduces pain more effectively and limits the need for opioids.
