First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether putting a numbing drug (bupivacaine) into the belly during open appendix surgery can lower pain and the need for extra painkillers after the operation. About 60 people having emergency open appendectomy will take part. Half will get the numbing medicine, half will get a placebo, and their pain will be checked at 2, 6, 12, and 24 hours after surgery.
