Zapping pain away: brain vs. spine stimulation tested
NCT ID NCT02817880
Summary
This study tested three different non-invasive stimulation techniques to see which works best for reducing chronic pain in people with algoneurodystrophy (also called complex regional pain syndrome). Thirty-six patients with long-term pain that didn't respond well to medications received either brain stimulation or spinal stimulation treatments over several months. Researchers tracked participants' pain levels, quality of life, and anxiety to determine which approach provided the most relief.
