New pain cocktail may reduce opioid use after stoma surgery

Summary

This study tested two different drug mixtures given as a nerve block to control pain after stoma reversal surgery. 86 adults received either ropivacaine plus dexamethasone or ropivacaine plus dexmedetomidine. The goal was to see which combination provides longer pain relief and reduces the need for strong opioid painkillers.
