First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding dexamethasone or magnesium sulfate to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) in a nerve block could provide longer pain relief after total hip replacement. 66 adults undergoing hip surgery received one of the two combinations. The goal was to see which mixture delayed the need for additional painkillers and reduced overall opioid use.
