New pain block may cut opioid use after hip replacement

NCT ID NCT06688136

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested two ways to manage pain after total hip replacement: a newer nerve block called QLESP versus the standard numbing injection around the joint. 68 adults were enrolled to see which method reduced the need for opioid painkillers in the first 24 hours after surgery. The goal is to find a safer, more effective pain control option that helps patients recover faster with fewer side effects.
