First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether a specific nerve block (called Quadratus Lumborum Block type 3) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after total hip replacement. 60 adults having planned hip surgery received either the nerve block or a placebo. The main goal was to see if the block lowered opioid use in the first 24 hours after surgery.
