New nerve block mix could ease agony after major chest surgery
NCT ID NCT06330168
Summary
This study is testing if adding a medication called calcitonin to a standard pain-blocking injection can better control pain for patients having chest surgery (thoracotomy). Researchers want to see if this combination reduces pain scores, lowers the need for strong opioid painkillers after surgery, and might even help prevent long-term chronic pain. The study involves 92 adults scheduled for this type of surgery.
