First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding dexmedetomidine to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) improves pain relief after major lower abdominal cancer surgery. Researchers compared two types of nerve blocks: quadratus lumborum block and epidural block. 54 adults aged 18-70 participated. The main goal was to see how long pain relief lasted before patients needed additional pain medicine.
