New study tests better pain control after cesarean delivery

NCT ID NCT06513013

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding magnesium sulfate or neostigmine to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) in a belly-wall nerve block could improve pain control after C-section. Sixty-eight women having planned cesarean deliveries under spinal anesthesia took part. The goal was to see which drug provides longer pain relief, reduces the need for extra pain medicine, and causes fewer side effects.
