First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether a specific nerve block (external oblique intercostal plane block) could reduce the amount of strong painkillers (opioids) needed during gallbladder removal surgery. 80 adults having planned laparoscopic gallbladder surgery took part. The goal was to see if the block leads to better pain control and less opioid use during and after the procedure.
