Back pain breakthrough? simple brain education may speed recovery

NCT ID NCT07277517

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a short educational session about how the brain processes pain (called Pain Neuroscience Education) to standard physical therapy can improve recovery in people with acute low back pain. About 48 adults with pain lasting less than 6 weeks will be split into two groups: one gets usual physiotherapy, the other gets the same plus two PNE sessions. Researchers will measure pain, disability, fear of movement, and negative thinking after 4 weeks to see if the extra education helps prevent pain from becoming chronic.
