Pre-Surgery pain class may ease anxiety and cut painkiller use

Summary
This study looks at whether a short pain education session before knee or hip replacement surgery can help patients feel less anxious and have less pain after the operation. About 70 adults having elective joint replacement will either get the education (a booklet and video) or standard care. Researchers will measure pain, anxiety, painkiller use, and hospital stay length to see if the education makes a difference.
