New study seeks best pain relief after hernia repair

NCT ID NCT07238829

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests two pain-relief methods after open inguinal hernia surgery: an ultrasound-guided nerve block (TFPB) versus the surgeon injecting numbing medicine into the wound. About 104 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. The goal is to see which method reduces the need for strong painkillers and improves recovery.
