New nerve block technique may offer better pain relief after major surgery

NCT ID NCT07055438

Summary

This study compared two different nerve block techniques for managing pain after major abdominal surgeries like Whipple operations and total gastrectomy. Researchers tested whether a newer technique (external oblique intercostal plane block) provides better pain control than a more established method (rectus sheath block). The goal was to see which approach helps patients need less opioid pain medication after surgery.
