New nerve block technique may offer better pain control after stomach surgery

NCT ID NCT07055438

Summary

This study compared two different nerve block techniques for managing pain after major abdominal surgeries like Whipple operations and total gastrectomy. Researchers tested whether a newer technique (external oblique intercostal plane block) provides better pain relief than the established method (rectus sheath block). The study involved 40 patients and measured how long each method kept patients comfortable before they needed additional pain medication.
