Pacemakers could predict heart and eye problems by tracking sleep and steps

NCT ID NCT05127720

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study will follow 1000 people with a slow heartbeat (bradycardia) who already have a specific type of pacemaker. The pacemaker will track sleep-related breathing problems and daily activity to see if these can predict future heart attacks, strokes, or irregular heart rhythms. Researchers will also check if sleep patterns relate to eye diseases and lung function. No new treatments are tested—the goal is to learn how pacemaker data can help monitor health over time.
